Liverpool v Man Utd ? Big Match Debt Stats Revealed

(PRWEB) January 24, 2012

Kick-off may be this Saturday for one the biggest matches of the season, but Liverpool is already behind Manchester when it comes to one vital match stat ? the personal debt league.

Whilst Manchester and Liverpool have gone head to head several times, it appears that residents of both cities still carry large amounts of personal debt.

Research from one of the UK?s leading debt management firms, ClearStart, reveals that loose changed Liverpudlians carry an average personal debt of ?21,105, compared to debt stats for Manchester at ?18,890.

This difference in debt levels is despite the two cities having similar average salaries. The average income in Liverpool is ?16,067: the average income in Manchester is ?16,964. The largest age group seeking debt help are those aged between 21 and 30 in Manchester and Liverpool.

Liverpudlians are high in the debt league tables but Mancunians are not far behind.

Paul Culshaw, Online Marketing Manager from ClearStart explains;

?Our latest debt statistics paint an interesting picture on the level of personal debt and the differences between Liverpool and Manchester. Despite having similar average salaries, the average Liverpudlian carries more than ?2,000 in extra debt.

?Why this is the case we are not so sure, but a love of football may have something to do with it. Liverpool fans are well known for their loyalty to their team. Not only are they among the most likely supporters in the Premier League to renew their season tickets - which can cost anything between ?214 and ?725 per year - they are also among the most loyal away fans in the Premier League, and travelling around the country can and does add up.

?Add the additional costs of replica shirts and it is easy to see where a love for the beautiful game can all too often be less than beautiful for your finances.?
